just seeing if this works….

I got a new computer yesterday, which Chip calls my “Mother’s Day, Birthday, and Christmas gift for this year…”  One of the features at the top of it is a direct link to my blog.  This makes it so easy to add a post and pictures without going all the way into my blog account.  So, this post is just to see if what it promises is true!!!  I’m so excited about my new laptop.  I am VERY into pictures, video and scrapbook, so I needed to update my equipment!!!  I got a Dell Studio 17.  (and it’s RED!)  How fun is that?  :-) The only thing is…it is SO different from anything I’ve ever had…it will take me forever to figure out everything this thing will do!

Just For You, Mama....

My mama told me that my blog was very difficult for her to read. I increased the font size just for you, Mama! Hope this is better!

Easter 2009

This morning started out like any other Sunday morning....NOT! I invited everyone over for Easter lunch, (? Where was my brain?) Next time it will be Easter "middle of the afternoon" meal! So I got up at five this morning to begin cooking the meal. I made the green bean casserole, got the roast, potatoes, and carrots in gravy ready to pop in oven...put the green beans in the oven and took the timer to bed with me to grab a few quick winks before jumping up to swap and put in the roast. Whew! I made some of the meal yesterday, so it wasn't too bad. Then made a quick change and off to Sunday School and Church. Which by the way, was a wonderful Easter sermon! All the while the roast was cooking, it was ALSO spilling over into my oven....Thank the Lord for self-cleaning ovens!!! I DID manage to get the meal on the table by 12:45!!! Pretty impressive if I say so myself! :-) I know it doesn't seem like a big accomplishment to someone like my Aunt Mary, who can pop out a meal for 30 with what seemed like to us with no effort..(NOW I KNOW DIFFERENT!!!) Kudos to you, Aunt Mary! But, for me...this was huge!
Anyway, we did manage to squeeze in our Easter family pictures before the meal.......(we had to make them inside because it was pouring down rain!!!!)

This one has Jessica's boyfriend, Lyndon.

My little babies.....(I can still call them that!) Oh yes, the Easter bunny still visits our house!

Lyndon and Jessica

Enjoyed a great meal :-) and good times with my family. Mama came over and so did Chip's parents. Hope every one's Easter was as wonderful as mine!

Easters Past

First of all I have to take this moment to celebrate the fact that I serve a risen Savior!!! That alone is enough reason to run shouting in the streets! I love Easter. I love the fact the we are reminded every year at this time that although Christmas is VERY special, it is Easter that we are given THE perfect gift. He is ALIVE! (and I wouldn't even want to think where we would be without Him!)
This is a picture of my mama, sister, and myself from a few Easters ago. I was looking for really old pictures of ann and I hunting Easter eggs at my Granny Smith's house. Couldn't find any. Charlene, does your mama have any of our BIG bunch of "younguns," as Granny used to say, doing those huge egg hunts we used to have? Boy, those were the good old days....We would all gang up at Granny and Grandaddy Smith's for a big Easter weekend.

My all time favorite memory of Easters past is when we were hunting eggs: every kid would go running at break neck speed through the pasture, hunting for the elusive egg...(steering clear of all the cow patties!!) lol Anyway, Daddy would walk and whistle, looking up in the air and around...like he was taking a leisurely stroll...all the while stretching to point, or leaning his head toward the eggs that were hidden! HE was definitely the one to hang around when hunting for eggs. Lord knows there were so many of us, you had to have a little home field advantage to get any of the good ones!!! I also remember Granny Smith dying goose eggs (from the geese on their farm) for prize eggs. Good times! Please feel free to add your favorite Easter memories. I'd love to hear them!
