I can’t believe that it’s been 25 years since I married Christopher Allen Weldon! Wow! So much has happened in our 25 years together! The two greatest accomplishments of our marriage are our two wonderful children. In 1988, we had Jessica, who is now 21, and is a successful hair stylist. In 1990, we had Clint, who is now 19, and attending SAU, pursuing a Bachelors degree in Nursing. They make us so proud. I feel like being a little nostalgic today. It amazes me that when Chip and I first married, we were soooooo young!!!!! I thought I was so grown up, and there I was the same age as my Jessica! We were married on December 29, 1984. The date itself seems like an eternity ago, but time has literally flown by. I can see that day so clearly in my mind, and if I think about it much I can muster up those same feelings that I had that day. I was never nervous about getting married. I felt very safe and sure that I was doing the right thing. I still get that same feeling every time I hear Chip’s truck drive up at home every afternoon. I love that man!
Central Baptist was so beautiful…it was like a fairy tale!
Check out the hairstyles….big hair was in, and mine was the biggest!
This is me and my daddy right before he walked me down the aisle. This was also taken right before he asked me if I “really” wanted to do this! He told me that he would take me right out of that church, and no one would say a word about it. I told him that this is what I wanted..(the marriage) :) and he said, “Then lets get this done!” One thing about my daddy…..he NEVER minced words! I miss him so much!
This picture was made before we threw the garter and bouquet…..AND right before my daddy (standing in the background) poured a WHOLE bag of rice down Chip’s pants!!! I thought my marriage was over right there before it had begun! :) Chip turned to hit the person that did that, not knowing it was Daddy! When he saw it was him, he stopped himself…..yep, I thought it was all over! By the way is it legal for someone to be that thin? :) I guess 25 years of happiness brings the pounds along with other things!
Chip and I went to Dallas for our honeymoon with big plans to attend the Sugar Bowl, but COLD weather met us there and a huge ice/snow storm set in on New Years Day, sending us packing and heading for home early. (we REALLY did NOT have enough money to pay for extra nights in a hotel, so home was our only option! Had we been snowed in, we would have had to sleep in our car!)
It really does NOT seem like it’s been 25 years! I’m looking forward to the next 25 to see what the Lord has in store for us!
