The First Wedding of the Weekend…

Friday night was a wonderful night for a wedding.  My “little” cousin, John David Smith, married his new bride, Michelle Fife.  She was a beautiful bride.  This was the first time I had the opportunity to meet her, and she lived up to all of John David’s bragging!  VERY sweet girl.  Here’s a picture of the bride as she is walking down the aisle.john davids wedding 003

I always look at the groom when the bride enters.  You can tell so much about how he feels when she enters the room.  (I saw that on “27 Dresses” and couldn’t believe that other people do that too!)  I had never been to a wedding before that had the groom face the back until the bride entered.  What an interesting concept?  Anyway here’s John David, or “JD” as his friends call him, as Michelle started down the aisle.  Yep, that’s “the look!”

They had a neat Sand Ceremony during the wedding where Michelle, John David, and the pastor poured colored sand into a crystal globe.  Michelle had pink, John David had blue, and the pastor had white representing the Lord.  They started with white, added pink, then white, then blue, then white, then mixed pink and blue together, then finished off the globe with lots of white, or “Jesus” as Michelle said.  Everyone need lot of Jesus to top off a marriage!  The pastor said some very potent words about marriage and how you have to support each other, work together, and have the Lord lead, guide, and direct you along your way.  VERY true words!  Also in the picture were Michelle’s two daughters, Mercedes and Harley.  They were holding the globe during the ceremony.  It was very sweet.  I’ve never seen that before.

Then the ceremony continued and of course he got to “kiss the girl!”

john davids wedding 022We had a wonderful dinner and a great time.  Here I am with the bride and groom..

john davids wedding 023 Ok, Charlene ordered a steak, which I affectionately called “a roast!”  haha…with her steak came a salad.  We got lots of laughs….they just brought out the head of lettuce!  too funny….this may be normal, but I’ve always seen my lettuce cut up!
