Getting to Meet a Real Author!

Being a reading teacher has a few perks, I suppose. Today we had inservice, so I went to school thinking it was just going to be a regular day like any other. To my surprise, one of our presenters brought along her friend, A. LaFaye! LaFaye is an author who writes young adult fiction. In the picture below, A. (as she wanted us to call her) is holding her book, Worth.

I ran to my classroom and scrounged up all of the titles of books that I have that was written by her so I could get them autographed by the author! I also called one of my students, Jamie, to come up to the school to meet LaFaye. Jamie just finished Worth, and is a huge fan of the book. She even used that book for her project and did a lot of research on the author..(LaFaye!) She was so excited to get to hear the author's interpretation of some of the characters in the book.

When we return to school tomorrow, Jamie and I will definitely have something cool to share with the class!

I love talking to authors. It is so interesting to hear what sparked them to write.

Oh, and a little shout out to my favorite son, Clint. :-) I got him out of bed this morning to bring my camera to school! Love you, Bud!
